it's almost over!!

Yay I think I say this on behalf of everyone when I say I am soo happy we are almost done this semester! I have had so much work to do this semester it's been crazy! I cannot wait for a nice winter break to sleep in, relax, and of course, work! I will actually like to spend more time at work during the holiday season with my residents! I work Christmas Eve and Christmas day! Only 8 hours each day thank god so I still get time with my family :) I also work New Years Eve and New Years day..so I get to spend both holidays with my residents :) haha. So anyway thank goodness it's only more week then we're free til January!

Black Friday ...

So Thursday I had to work til 11, and my friends Katie and Rosalia wanted to go to the outlets as soon as I got off work! I agreed (ugh) and met them at my house when I got off work. After I had showered I was ready to go. We drove up to the outlets and waitied in traffic....it was kinda fun though because we saw a lot of crazy people. We had to park pretty far away, and it was freeeezing. So finally we got to Coach. OMG it was ridic, we had to wait to get in the store and had to wait to look at a damn shelf of purses it was madness. I wanted a coach purse but I got so impatient from trying to even look at bags I gave up :( After Rosalia & Katie got purses we went to Polo and some jewlery stores. Then we decided to go to walmart. I got a really nice printer and that made me happy it wasn't too busy. I wanted a new digital camera, but the line was sooo long!! I was not gonna wait for that. Then we went to park city when it opened and got some make up at sephora, went to VS, BEBE, and A&F. I got some sweet stuff. Then we went all the way to Ephrata for some more shopping. I didn't get home til like 10 Friday morning and had to take my brother to basketball at 11. What a long day. I hate black friday

BF:)

My boyfriend cooked dinner for my Saturday :) I was really tired from working and all that stuff and I went over to his house to be suprised with a candle lit dinner ! He made chicked, broccoli, alfredo sauce with noodles. Yum. It was pretty good I was so happy. After that he had desssert ready, chocolate covered strawberries, brownies and vanilla ice cream....makes me hungry thinking about it again lol After dinner he brought out a tiny white box...and he gave me a pretty necklace from KAY's! :) Then he took me to see New Moon(he doesn't care for Twilight so I was suprised). I loved the movie and had a perfect night with my boyfriend. Today after work he brought me beef jerky, sour patch kids and pepsi.. I love him so much haha

Thanksgiving break?

Yeah, so it wasn't really the greatest Thanksgiving break due to the fact I had homework in every class. Most of my friends got like at least a full week. Oh well I'm not complaining, I got a lot done but wished I had more down time. I worked Thanksgiving, so I didn't get to go to Philly this year to see the fam. Oh well, spending time with my residents is always fun. It's almost the end of the semester and I have tons of homework to do yet, I can't wait til Christmas break!! Hopefully these next couple of weeks fly by!

I had one scary night!

Okay, so for the past two weeks my dad has been warning me to be careful driving (since I drive everywhere!) because around this time people get crazy! Anyway, on to my story.. It was Tuesday night around 5 but it was already really dark. I was on my way to Dallastown to pick up my little brother, Ben, from basketball practice. It's about 15 minutes to get there when you take back roads and I had time to kill so I figured why not. I was driving along and I came up to an old small car that was going well below the speed limit (40) so I stayed back for a little bit to see if they would speed up or pull over knowing they had someone behind them. Well we were still driving and I was about 2 car lengths away and we were going up a gradual hill when the car started to put on the breaks? I thought is this person drunk? what the hell is going on here? So getting impatient I layed my hand on the horn and they came to a COMPLETE stop...We were at a small intersection when they had stopped and the car parked in the middle of the three way blocking me from all three directions. Confused and scared I grabbed my cell phone in case I reaaaally needed it. I had my hand on the gear ready to reverse in case something went wrong. I thought this guy was just being a total jerk until he whipped out of his car threw his cell phone in his car and came running over to my car. I was shaking like a leaf I literally had not been so scared in my life! I locked my car doors and was ready to back out when he got in my way and I would have hit him if I moved. He started yelling profanity's and his spit was on my window. This dude was literally like 6 3 easily. I was soooooooo scared. I kept yelling go away a million times I was so scared he called me all sorts of nasty names. A car was pulling up to the intersection and he went back to his car cursing the whole way. I was shaking so bad as I sped off in a different direction. I called my dad the minute I drove off. It's a shame I didn't get his plates. It was definitely the scariest experience of my life . :(

Next Friday!

Next Friday is BLACK FRIDAY and I am so excited. Rosalia, Katie and I are going shopping! Well me and Katie got a little shopping done last Friday up near Philly, but Rosalia had to go into work at three. We're planning to get up around 4 on Friday morning to get out early.I hate hate hate crowds and Black Friday is the only day I won't complain about standing around in lines, esp if I have a good deal. I just hope I wont be TOO worn out to shop. I've been working since Thursday now and wont have a day off until Tuesday night then it's back to work 11-7 Wednesday night, Come home at 8 am Thursday morning, (Thanksgiving) then back to work at 3 on Thanksgiving! Ah, so I won't be going to Philadelphia this year to see some Kennedy's for our feast. I love the food my family makes. Hopefully the turkey we're having at work is good! Then shopping, yayyyy.

Thank You for Smoking

"Thank You for Smoking" was a pretty good film. I think Nick Naylor, the main character, really worked hard to fight for what he wants...and to pay the mortage. The argumentive parts of his role were really good and he always saw other sides to the situation. I also really liked how the MOB squad got together. Three people who are hated for what they represent were really strong. I also liked the relationship he had with his son. Naylor wanted to take him to work to show him what he does and such and taught him a lot about arguing...and the U.S. Government!

2012? Seriously?

Okay, so personally, I'm annoyed with hearing about the "world ending" in 2012 just because the Mayan calender runs out December 21, 2012. Who says they know when the entire world is going to end? They should have made a longer calender! My cellphone calender goes to 2020. Ha ha. Also, Who the hell said it was going to end in 2000 ? Obviously they were WRONG. I don't know about you, but I personally do not believe that someone honestly predicted when the world is going to "end". What's gonna' happen anyways? I did some research and read that numerous things could happen such as: ice age, the sun becoming so big it literally burns off the planet earth, the sun will shrink, not being able to adequately take care of earth and so on. I can see some of this stuff happening in the future and I mean millions of years from now, that's what scientists have said. As far as any of this crap happening in 2012? Who has proof, I would love to know. I just can't find any proper scientific proof to honestly predict the earth "ending" in 2012. Now a movie of 2012?! I think Hollywood is starting to get into people's heads too much. I don't know, whatever, guess we'll have to see what happens.

"This mass[earth] that rotates around the star will exist until consumed in a massive supernova 5 billion years from now. Human kind will spring board off before then and 2012 will just be a date of some obscure reference like the date that Napoleon ate a cheese cake."-Anonymous

27 Lights

"Six years ago in a cornfield in the middle of nowhere, a bunch of reckless South-Central Pennsylvania teenagers formed a band called 27 Lights. Inspired by a wide variety of rock and roots influence, they began writing songs that featured a unique flavor of psychedelic- and reggae-flavored rock. Starting with local shows and Battles of the Bands in York, PA"(27 Lights)

So my older brother Max, 22, is the singer of a band called 27 Lights. Max has always been talented in music, he's been playing the acoustic gutair since I don't remember and when myself and Max were in the S.D. Spady Chorus in Delray Beach, Fl. Max got a lot of solo opportunities! The band consists of Max, vocals, Bill, Gutair, Vince, Bass, and Bobby, the drums. They won the battle of the bands two years in a row at Dallastown High and have played in many Coffee Houses. They aren't just some put together rock band, their style is actually really unique. It has a lot of different sounds too it, a little bit of rock and reggae, it's "chill" music, I would personally describe it just because knowing my brother & the bands' personality, their so chill with everything and the band reflects that. So about a year now the band relocated to New Orleans, LA. It's been really exciting for them getting different gigs every weekend and opening up for more well known bands (i.e. SOUJA). They have a myspace page if you wanna check out their music and learn more about the band.

Jas & Jen wed in Vermont

So my oldest brother, Jason, finally got married after dating his wife, Jen, for close to 9 years. My brother Jason was in the Navy as a Nuc Engineer for about 6 years. He went in right after high school, turning down a full ride to Flagler! After the Navy he moved from Florida to San Diego, Calif. and he attended San Diego state to finish off his Engineering career. Finally after those 8 1/2 years he's been out in Cali, him and Jen got married in Vermont the beginning of October in Burlington, Vermont. Why Vermont? Well that's where Jen's from. Trust me I would have loved to have another visit out to their home on the beautiful beach in Diego, but the wedding was very pretty in Vermont. Although it was ten times colder there than it was here, there was a lot to do! When we got to the moutain top resort there was horsbackriding! Archery, lots of great food, a lot of jason's friends that most of them the last time they saw me I was in diapers. It was really cool for me and my three brothers to be together at once because it's not too often that happens! Max lives in New Orleans! My second oldest brother so were almost never in the same place at the same time! Now I have a sister in law though :-) She's a marine biologist and works with Daulphins and Sharks. I'm really excitied to see when I will become an Aunt!

Vermont! That's Lake Champlain behind me.

summer girl

Even though it wasn't that long ago, I miss summer! I'm a florida girl so warm weather is just in my blood.. since moving up here everyone has always made fun of me because I am always just so cold. I bundle up for a snow storm when it's like only 50. I can't stand it though, call me crazy but I hate waking up in the morning, seeing snow on the ground because I know I have to help shovel the driveway. Shoveling isn't the part that bothers me, it's about how freaking numb I get from being out in the ice. I hate the snow, although I have tried skiing and snowboarding at Roundtop, loved it, but not for me I'd rather be skimboarding or surfing. I would rather be in sweltering hott heat, like when I went out west to Las Vegas and death valley one summer it was 110! That was perfectly fine with me...but 60 and below...no way hate it. I'm weird like that. There always seems like there is more to do during the summer. In the winter, I never feel like doing anything. I go to the gym and run and sit in the hot tub but thats boring I'd rather be out in the sun doing things outside! Ugh I miss summertime and cannot wait til it's time to transfer to back to southern florida!

i <3 suprises

Last Sunday my boyfriend, Jared and I got into a fight! I don't exactly remember what we were fighting about, but fighting is never good and we...well I went to bed before it was settled. I woke up Monday morning with a text that said "go outside to your car when you wake up!" I was half asleep and honestly didn't know why exactly I got up sooo early on a Monday morning when my first class isn't til 2. Confused I walked downstairs, my Dad was suprised I was up, He said it might rain soon and I better go check my car. Check my car?! Why? So I continued outside to the driveway when I was suprised with a dozen pink roses and car paint on my car saying "I love you" and "You're my sweetheart" with a note. :-) It was a really nice suprise because I wasn't expecting it since he had done it at 2a.m. ! Plus, he has a limited liscense since he lost his and can only drive to school and work so it was a shock he drove from West York all the way to Dallastown to bring me such a cute suprise :-) It was a perfect way to start off my week for sure.

Inservice, sucks!

For work we have these online tutorials about influenza, biohazards, hand washing, and all that other health care, safety stuff. Things we are already aware about espcially when you have "Employees must wash hands before returning to work" to remind you everywhere there is a sink! We are given a password and a user name and are expected to complete them by the due dates. They aren't so bad except when you gotta do them at home, it's like extra homework AND you don't get paid for them! Next month I am most definietly doing mine at work because these things take forever! They walk you through all the steps on certain things and then you have to take quiz's on the information given....ah just adds to my list of things to do on top of all this homework I get!

cleaning out my closet!

So I have a pretty big closet, and it gets very messy due to the fact I take advantage of how much room I have for "junk" so anytime I clean, I throw all my crap in my closet and my actual room looks spic & span. So I have a lot of clothing that is sitting in my closet because it doesn't fit or it's outdated or I just simply lost interest in wearing/using it. My little brother has been selling his video games and old nintendo game systems and games for money on Ebay. I use to think Ebay was sort of lame and untrusting, I never knew you would get what you pay for. Yet, Ben uses all the money he gets from old games to buy new games, or have that money be generated into cash from his pay pal account! I got a good idea to start selling some clothing, field hockey equiptment, bags, luggage, shoes, formal dresses and things that I have accumilated over the years and don't need any longer. Some of these things are worth some good money still and I hate for them to just sit around not being used. So why not sell them?! Hope it's successful! :-)

farmvilly!!!

Yep, it's true, I'm a farmer ....on facebook! Farmville is the game where you plant crops, harvest them, plow and do it all over again. You can also buy decorations, barns, out-house, and animals. It sounds really lame and I'll admit thought it was the dumbest thing ever and made fun of my friend Amber last year because she "had to harvest her crops", yet now I'm sorta addicted. I don't know what makes it so addicting, but it is!

somebody call 911!

I work in assisted living as a CNA, sometimes it gets pretty crazy. Tonight was a crazy night. Karen , Niki, and I had just finished up cares and it was time to relax (unless a call light went off). Nope! 7:30 we had a fall, a woman put on her light and found her sitting on her butt looking up at us saying "I fell, and can't get up". Luckily, she was okay. I was the shower girl that night so I was finishing up cleaning the bathroom when I heard someone screaming "help! help! help!". At first I thought I was hearing things because I had been so tired all afternoon, but then it got louder so I ran down the hall trying to figure out who needed help. At the end of the hall a woman was in her room completely face down on the carpet! The funny thing was, her best friend (a cat) was lying right next to her! I made sure she was stable and quickly paged the RN. When the RN got there the woman was complaining of breathing and we thought she might have broken a rib. Karen stayed with her why I quickly called 911 and called her POA. The emt's were there in no time and she was taken to the hospital. This was a pretty crazy night for only two CNA's on the unit!

Sleep

These past three days I have been running on about 8 hours of sleep. Thursday night I went into work at 6 and got off at 2am. I didn't get home until around 2:30 and I couldn't fall asleep until 7am! I had to wake up at 8 for my diabetic training at welspan and do that for two hours. After that I was already up and moving so I didn't bother getting anymore sleep. The rest of Friday I spent with my boyfriend and then I had to go back to work at 11 to do third shift. I got off at 7 Saturday morning and again, couldn't get a wink of sleep! Finally I slept a good solid 4 hours, and yes, had to go back into work by 5 that night. I finally got off at 1am after a crazy night. I need to catch up on some sleep, seriously!

blog

blogging is cool, but I honestly never know what to write. I always try to think of SOMETHING/ANYTHING to write(hence my pointless blogs). So I guess I will write one about not knowing what to write about at the moment because I am totally blank.

Love to Hate her.

Personally, I love Kristin Cavallari, originally from Laguna Beach, but now she's back on The Hill's! Kristin has always been known as the super biotch who steals everyone's boyfriend and always has guys wrapped around her finger. She's awesome, she's not afraid to tell people exactly what she thinks. She is raw, and I love that about her she will tell girls how it is. She is pretty and she knows how to flaunt it. Judging by the first episode of the show, it seems that many of Kristin’s Hills co-stars aren’t liking the drama she’s bringing on. But that doesn’t mean Kristin thinks anyone has a problem with her.

Tati Loves to Tan!

Yep, it's true. I fake bake, and I LOVE IT. Lots of people are against tanning, for lots of reasons which I can understand, so I am not trying to make anyone tan or anything. I know a lot of people are rude and say you'll get skin cancer or your skin will age quickly and all this other stuff, I understand that, but lots of people are different. I grew up in South Florida literally right across from Red Reef Beach. The weather there never dropped below the 70's, I was very active and always on the beach. I was always tan as a child, year round, so I figure if I wouldn't have moved from Florida to Pennsylvania, I'd still be tanning year round anyway? So yes, I'm aware of the chances of getting skin cancer and all that stuff but one thing you got to take into consideration is I don't burn. People who more are 3 out of 4 times more likely to get a type of skin cancer. (I did a whole research project on sunshine/tanning my senior year). I check my body and I see a dermatologist every couple of months (who hates me by the way, because she knows I love to tan!) So get to know the facts! Don't judge me 'cus I fake bake, I like it :) Tanning is relaxing and peaceful. I also like my appearance better when I have a sun kissed glow! Most importantly, I tan at Baja Beach Tanning club and proudly have been a member there for 2 1/2 years! The atmosphere is amazing, what a great place to tan!

struggling on my paper...ugh

This research paper has actually been pretty difficult for me. Not only do I not know how to combine my thoughts, but I don't know how to make it longer than one page! I normally love writing. I really do. This has definitely been a challenge! Hopefully I can finish it up soon...

CSI: Miami <3

I love CSI: Miami. It's on A&E almost everyday at 11am and 5pm. Monday's it on at 9. I love CSI: Miami because it's all about detectives and forensic scientist's solving crimes and throwin' bad guys in jail. They make it look SO cool on TV, but I really know it's not like that. I just really think that stuff is interesting to watch. I like watching the types of crimes that go on. Drug trafficking, murder, rape, and domestic violence. It's interesting to see the types of stuff they use to crack cases. Also, you get to see lots of scenic views of the beautiful South Florida, Miami-Dade county, which is close to my hometown! They have other shows I enjoy watching like; CSI: New York, Law & Order, Criminal Minds and Crime Investigations (like the First 48). I always make my boyfriend watch an episode with me if we have nothing else to do and he hates Horatio Kane! (The lead Miami-Dade Detective). Who is my favorite because he always catches who is lying. Anyway, it's always a good day when there is a random CSI:Miami marathon and I get to lay on the couch and watch it all day :)

Burning Bright *

After reading Burning Bright, I could really see exactly why it was titled, Burning Bright. This book makes me think a lot. It could be a good thing or a bad thing but I guess we'll get it cleared up in class :). The end of the book was the best part. I really have got to admit I wasn't into this book until this chapter. It was more entertaining and interesting than the others. I couldn't believe Montag torched Beaty, but it was something I think Montag needed to do. Also, killing the mechanical hound, pretty boss-man on Montag's part. Does Clarrisee work for the government and what happened to her? I don't think I understand what happend to her.

Tool Academy

Tool Academy is a show on VH1 and it's about girls who bring their boyfriend's on the show because they are known as "tools". They go through therapy and all this other stuff and the girlfriends find out how much they've lied & cheated. They go through different challenges to win dates with their girlfriends, but if no effort is seen, he is just a tool and is sent home. It's kind of a dumb reality show, but it's addicting and me and my boyfriend love it and watch it every Sunday night at 9!

I <3 Reading!!

I don't love reading ALL THE TIME, but I was extremely intrigued by a select few books. So I had to read this book Secret Life of the Bee's in Reading class with Miss. Veit. I actually really like it. I liked it so much I have already been done! When I first bought the book I was like "oh great this looks so boring, a book about bees". It's so much more than that though. Itt's a book that takes place back in the 1960s...around civil rights and all that stuff. Lily, the main character, lost her mom when she was just four years old. Lily is forced to live with her a-hole of a Dad, T-Ray, who she actually calls T-Ray because he is so cold hearted "daddy" just doesn't fit him at all. So anyway, an incident happens in town when her housemaid, Rosaleen, pours chew juice all over three whiteman's feet. They get picked up by the PO PO and when they arrive at the station, the three men are allowed to beat Rosaleen, with the Policeman watching! In horror, Lily watches and tries to break free, but is forced to watch this continue. After that T-Ray picks up Lily and leaves Rosaleen in the cell. Lily gets the guts to finally run away from home and rescue Rosaleen and pops her out of jail. They then travel to Tiburon, SC in search to find her mother's life story. It's a good book and I really enjoyed it I'm renting the movie tonight! It has stars in it like Dakota Fanning, Queen Latifah, Jennifer Hudson, and I'm not sure who else but get the book!!

Sieve and the Sand !

Before I started my reading, I was really curious what the heck Sieve and the Sand meant? What exactly is the relevance to the book? I guess I'll find that out in class. I find it really sad that Millie is still pushing poor Guy away. :( Anyway, Guy goes back into time and meets Faber, and Faber is kind of like a guide for Guy. Once again we get another new device that kind of reminds Guy of the seashell. It's also really interesting to me that Guy (the fireman) gets out a book for Millie and her friends? I don't know but I think I need to re-read some parts, some things just aren't clear to me yet.

FLAMINGO!

Pink birdies I absolutely love :-) It was common to see them where I lived in South Florida, but in York, PA? Yes, seriously! As I was driving to my boyfriend's house today I couldn't help but notice the flock of plastic lawn flamingos taking up his front yard! I thought it was really cool because one of his mom's friend's does that as some type of charity work. I looked online and people also do that for different occasions and surprises, check it out!

(pictures of Flamingo's I took at the D.C. Zoo this past summer)

Med Training

Today I had to go into work 8-4, which isn't bad considering my normal shift is 11-7. I had to go to work today because we had to do more med training. Medicine training, for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, is basically a class dedicated to informing PCA's about our med passes we do PRN (every shift). So anyway, it was super boring. I am finally home and I am sick and tired of hearing about how much Oxycontin to give this resident and how much penicillin to give this resident. It's really helpful information though to give care, I just wish it wasn't so cut and dry. The upside, there was free candy :-) I'm back there tomorrow 8-4 then 6-11. It's going to be a longg day :-)

York Fair!

Yes, believe it I went to the fair for the first time this year. I have been living up here for close to seven years now and I had never gone to the fair. In Florida, I always went to the South Florida fair and it was a huge deal, we got off school for two days! So I guess I got too stubborn and wouldn't wanna see anything less than amazing. I know a lot of people that complain about how boring the York Fair is, but it wasn't that bad. (let's not forget it was my first time!) On student night I went with my Boyfriend, Jared, Adam, Kayte, Tori, Ethan and Leanna. It was pretty fun because I saw so many people there I knew! I really liked watching the sarcastic clown make fun of people when they walked by. Although I had to leave early Tuesday night to pick up my Daddy at BWI. I went back tonight with my Boyfriend and Kayte and Adam. It wasn't as crowded this time, so that was nice, I hate crowds! We played a couple games of "I got it!"..which I had never played before but my first game I won! Then Jared bought me cotton candy and we got these huge cookies! We also ate food at this one stand, which I don't remember the name, had good food. So anyway, my experience at the York Fair was pretty cool. We had to leave early again though, Jared and I had to watch our show, Tool Academy!(Plus, I was freezing!) It's a funny show you should watch it.

"Procrastination is the art of keeping up...with yesterday"

So I have this synthesis paper that I am suppose to have finished by tomorrow at 3:30 for Sociology. Even though I have had since last Monday to get it done, I have only gathered information and started a thesis statement. The rest should just flow easily right? Wrong. I haven't felt like doing it since I worked all weekend, and I'm using that as an excuse right now. The honest truth is I'll probably be up 'til about 2 am finishing this paper. I may procrastinate, but I can at least finish things before the deadlines. I just thought I'd confess my bad habit to the bloggers. :)

F 451

This was my weekend to work at Normandie. I am required to work every other weekend, and since I work 3rd shift, I always bring homework because there is never anything to do until 5 am med pass. So anyway, I decided to bring Fahrenheit 451 along. I got a cup of coffee and tried to get comfortable in the office chair to start my reading The Hearth and the Salamander. I'm not too sure about you guys, but it take a little bit of patience for me to actually get into a book. I love reading, but some books, I find myself re-reading and saying "what"? after like 2 pages. So what I got from reading the beginning of the book is there is a fireman, Montag, but he isn't a fire rescue man, his job is to burn books. What was even worse, he had to burn books while people were inside their own homes! This I thought was weird. Why are they banning peoples' books? I think that's wrong. I guess I need to read more to see why exactly this book is banned.

BOSS MAN say who?

I am talking about Miami's finest, six-foot, 300 pound, tattooed, boss man, Ricky Ross! Many know him for his drug trafficking, and many know him for keeping up his reputation in Miami-Dade county with his rap songs such as "Hustlin' ". Ricky Ross, whose real name is William Ross was born and raised in Carol City, FL. For those of you who don't know, Carol City is an impoverished town north of Miami. Ricky began rapping during the '80s-'90s, along with running the largest crack and cocaine distribution through the country. This distribution was most known as, "Freeway". He has then retired from drug trafficking but has still been bringing the beats. Slip-N-Slide records who Trina B and Trick Daddy belong to, is also Ricky Ross' record label. Rick Ross is my one of my favorite rappers and I love reading his history.

It's the most wonderful time of the yearrrr.

I'm not talking about Christmas, I'm talking about SHARK WEEK. Shark Week has always been the best time of the year. I have a little bit of an obsession with sharkies! Every year between the end of July and beginning of August Discovery Channel dedicates a full seven days to Sharks! Myth Busters, Dirty Jobs, and many other shows on Discovery all have a special episode dealing with sharks. This is very interesting to me, as I have grown up with a love for sharks. When I was little I use to go to Red Reef beach in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and walk into the shallow waters and let the nurse sharks
nibble on my toes. I fell in love! Shark's are one of the coolest ocean animals there is, they are so complex like you wouldn't believe! There's a misconception that shark's are mindless killing machines, but they are so smart. A few years ago, in La Jolla, California, my oldest brother who lives there, Jason, took me on a scuba diving tour through the waters off the coast of San Diego. It was amazing to see the Tiger and Hammer head sharks swim above you. They didn't bother me for a second. My life goal is to be in a shark cage with a Great White! That would be amazing.

P.S.
First picture is me and my best friend in Universal Studio's Orlando!
Second Picture is me in Bruce's mouth (Shark from Finding Nemo) at Epcot in Disney this past winter.

Writing from the darkness

I feel a real connection with the author. Throughout my life, I have always had a love-hate relation ship with reading and writing. I could relate to her in numerous ways. It's a big step to come out of your shell and not feel so locked up inside. Writing was sort of like her outlet, a place to get away from everything. "Humiliation in the face of aspects of the self we think are unsound, inappropriate, ugly or downright nasty blocks one's ability to see the possibility for transformation that such a facing of one's reality promises". I really liked this part of the reading, she can't fool herself. Reality has to be faced in order for her to transform as a writer.

Hero's don't have to wear capes...

This guy just may be my number one hero. He has been with me my entire life. He has never let me down. He has always taught me to learn from my mistakes. He is my Daddy! Jerry F. Kennedy. I've been sitting on the computer now for about forty-five minutes. I've been thinking, what should I write about? I have been trying to write about other topics, but I'm just having one of those days where I don't know what exactly to write about. So I figured what would be better than writing about my hero? Everyone has one. Role models, hero, it's all the same. Anyway, my Hero is my Dad. Not only because he is my Dad, but he is the main man I can talk to about anything! Even if he has to listen to me talk about gossip, girls, and all that good stuff, (which he is still foregin to him, considering I am the only girl out of his four kids)he still gives me a good ear. This is why I love him. My Dad has never yelled at me, no, never been really angry with me. Not that I'm goody-two-shoes, but every time I have ever messed up, and I mean really messed up, he is Mr. Popular for...lectures! Yeah, most of my friends always say "I'd rather just get yelled at and get it over with". Well, that has not been the case for me. When I get into trouble, such as when I have disappointed my Dad (which is probably the worst feeling in the world). He doesn't just snap at me and start yelling, he takes time to think about what I've done (making me sweat it out!) and then he will give me the lecture. I must admit, I have learned a lot of valuable lessons from his lectures. This is why I look up to my Dad so much and he will always be my number one Hero.

I have been "aging" across the U.S.A

My first official, write-about-anything-blog. I'm not sure what to write about. So I'll share something I feel is pretty interesting about my "aging"! Summer break, in my mind is the most wonderful time of the year. The weathers warm, my birthday is in July, and there's lots of vacation time. I would have loved to have birthday parties and celebrate with my friends. The thing is, when you have a family that loves to travel, you don't get a birthday party, you get a birthday vacation! My friends have always said to me "I couldn't wish you happy birthday!". I have actually enjoyed being on vacation during my birthday. Let's see, since I have been about the age of 9, I have celebrated my birthday in 8 different states, plus Canada! Turning 10 was the first time I had been out west, in Albuquerque, New Mexico for my cousins wedding. It was the transistion summer where I was moving up to Pennsylvania. My 11th birthday I would be celebrating in Virginia, taking my older brother, Max, to summer camp. The next summer, my family traveled up to Toronto, Canada. I spent my 12th birthday at a Blue Rays game in downtown Toronto. For the celebration of my teen years, I spent it on the Jersey shore in Ocean City, New Jersey. Then for my 14th birthday, we took two weeks to travel out west to see the Grand Canyan, Four Corners, Las Vegas, and many other places. The last stop was to visit my oldest brother, Jason, in San Diego, California. My 14th birthday I spent the day at Legoland, California! The following year, we traveled down the East Coast and stopped in Gatlinburg, Tennesse for my 15th and got a behind the scenes tour at Ripley's Believe it Or Not Aquarium. Sweet 16, I wish I could say I had a huge party like on MTV, but no it was back out west to Pheonix, Arizona! Last summer, I turned 17 and spent it with my dad, brother and kelsey at Inner Harbor at the Baltimore Aquarium. Finally, this past July, I was finally home in Pennsylvania, and went to the National Zoo in Washington D.C. with my Boyfriend. The celebration of my birthday in all these cool places would definietly be my crowning glory. I wonder where I will be "aging" next year...

What Should Colleges Teach?

Reading Stanley Fish's article, I really agree with him. There has got to be more courses solely devoted to composition, writing, grammar etc. All this other nonsense, which I can honestly say I blame many administrators, should might as well be classes that are labeled as "time wasting". Having good, well constructed, clean English habits is a must and should be the hottest trend, so why not catch on? Listen to Fish, the man clearly knows what he is talking about, as do instructors. Fish, along with many teachers, instructors, professors, etc. are the ones in the classrooms working with students and grading the papers. Yet who makes up these bogus credit requirements and classes that don't focus on one clean topic. The guidelines for teaching certain material should be a bit more strict, let the teachers make up the rules and guidelines. It angers me to think about all these people that make up the guidelines who don't even teach, interact, or physically see what is being taught. "Teach the subject matter and don't adulterate it with substitutes". (ACTA). Teach what is needed to be taught is exactly right, why would I want to sit in an English class and learn about things other than English. I want to take classes that will help me in my major. I don't want to look back and say what did I need that class for? For example, Algebra, I have always despised mathematics. I'm thinking about a career that would focus more on writing/thinking, anything English related actually, for instance Human Resources. Why would I need Algebra? So why am I forced to take it. Why should people care if I am bad at math when you won't be needing me or my math skills to, for example, solve the Nation's debt? So WHY am I forced to take it. It's a mess to me and the academic plans should really be checked out immensely.

Good Writing?

Being a good writer doesn't mean you always know what to write about. Good writers brainstorm or write about anything before they begin a composition. Good writing can be broken up into numerous definitions, depending who you ask. I think that good writing should have good consistency with organization. Organization is important because it makes the paper flow into a good conclusion. Depending about the topic of your paper, it should appeal or target some sort of audience. Good writers grasp peoples' attention throughout the composition. Grasping attention includes details to provide imagery to whom ever reads it. Good writing includes creativity, no one, and I mean no one, would honestly want to read a boring paper! Therefore reading the paper would be more enjoyable if you could imagine the activity going on and be intrigued by the topic.
